Beast In Black detailed biography
Beast In Black is a Helsinki-based international heavy metal band whose sound fuses powerful riffs with melodic hooks, dance-metal energy, and the drama of 1980s pop and electronic music. Lyrically, they draw on dark fantasy and sci-fi themes, with a particular passion for the manga Berserk. Known for their explosive live shows, the band has released three acclaimed albums, a string of singles and videos, and even collaborated on a video game. Their breakout video “Blind And Frozen” has surpassed 50 million views on YouTube.
THE PAST...
Beast In Black was founded in 2015 by guitarist and songwriter
Anton Kabanen. The original line-up featured Kabanen, vocalist
Yannis Papadopoulos, guitarist
Kasperi Heikkinen, bassist
Máté Molnár, and drummer
Sami Hänninen, later replaced in 2017 by
Atte Palokangas.
Their debut album
Berserker (2017) stormed the Finnish charts, earning platinum status, and their follow-up
From Hell With Love (2019) also went platinum, cementing their reputation as one of the most exciting new forces in metal. During this period, they supported major acts such as
Nightwish in arenas, while their first headline tour drew over 1,000 fans per night.
THE PRESENT...
In 2021 the band released their third album,
Dark Connection, which debuted at number one in Finland and quickly went gold. By this stage, Beast In Black had become one of Finland’s most successful metal exports. They headlined tours across Europe, North and South America, and Japan, now averaging 2,500 fans per show, and appeared on the main stages of premier European festivals including
Wacken Open Air,
Hellfest, and
Graspop.
THE FUTURE
Beast In Black show no signs of slowing down. In June 2024 they released the standalone single “Power Of The Beast”, described by Kabanen as the band’s first “Super Eurobeast” anthem. Later that year they were confirmed as special guests on
Helloween’s 40th anniversary European tour in autumn 2025.
In April 2025 the band unveiled a high-profile collaboration with
Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo IV and
Berserk, tied to the game’s eighth season
Belial’s Return, releasing the single “Enter The Behelit” as its soundtrack.
The band’s highly anticipated
fourth album is scheduled for release in
May 2026.
